arts-crafts

This month we spoke to the lovely Amanda Morrison who recently got married in the McDonald Hotel and Spa in Kinsale. We custom made a Daisy Flo Hairdrape for her, we also made 3 piece Daisy Flo combs and hairbands for her bridesmaids and decorated her bridal shoes with beautiful crystals and daisy components on the front. Amanda was a pleasure to deal with and look below how stunning she was on the big day! Fabulous interview for any bride to be xx

Where did you buy your dress and how long before the wedding?

I bought my dress in Cinderellas Closet in Blackpool Cork. They were absolutely lovely to deal with, it was the first shop I went to and the 4th dress i tried on. I knew it was the one when I saw it on. I went to one other shop but I just couldn’t stop thinking about it so I went back on the same day and ordered it, I was in love it was so perfect on the day and I couldn’t imagine myself in another dress. I would suggest to go shopping for the dress between 9 months to a year before the wedding.

Who did your hair?

My Hair and make up were done by The Style House in Tower Blarney Co Cork and I couldn’t say enough about them. They came to my house and made it an amazing experience, we didn’t have to worry about leaving the house and everyone was so relaxed getting there hair and makeup done. They made getting ready stress free and we had more time to enjoy the champagne with no rain and traffic to deal with on the day. I would definitely recommend staying in the comfort of your own home for hair and makeup.

Where did you buy your accessories?

I got most of my accessories in the amazing Azure. They made a fabulous custom head piece for me which people are still complementing. I also got my four bridesmaids head pieces there and the two flower girls as well, one of them got a hairband and the other a hair clip. Everything was hand made to order so everything was matching throughout and the girls in the shop were so nice to deal with they honestly couldn’t have done more. I loved working with them as they were ready when they said they would be and they constantly kept me updated with pics, I couldn’t have been happier with the service provided. I would recommend them to everyone. I also got the earrings and bracelets in Debenhams which was also very handy as we just had to walk in and pick out what we needed, quick and simple.

Where did you get married and did you look at many venues before deciding on that particular one?

Our venue was the McDonald Hotel and Spa Kinsale Co Cork. It didn’t take us long at all to pick the venue as it was the third one we went to see. It was the incredible views and that amazing balcony overlooking the water that sealed it for me, I couldn’t say enough about the place, the staff were amazing they made our day so special, and the food and everything else was absolutely stunning. 10 out of 10.

How many bridesmaid did you have and where did you buy their dresses and accessories?

I loved my bridesmaid dresses they were a beautiful pink colour, I bought them in the Princess Rooms in Cobh. I had four bridesmaids and everyone looked amazing. It all just came together the way we wanted it too and I would definitely recommend ordering the bridesmaid dresses at least 6 months before the big day so if you want everything perfect and stress free it will allow plenty of time to make any necessary changes.

What did you find the most challenging aspect of organising your wedding?

The music was quite challenging to pick. We went back and forth a bit when picking the song for the first dance. We eventually settled on Riptide by Vance Joy. Picking out the table favors was also challenging as we wanted something a bit different and fun, so we decided to put a shot glass in front of everyone with “We tide the knot, take a shot” engraved on each one and a mini bottle of Jagermeister to go with it, so you could say everyone was pretty happy by the time the meal came out.

Brides always mention how difficult it is to find shoes; where did you get yours?

Yes, White wedding shoes are so hard to find. I couldn’t find any in what seemed like the whole of Ireland. I did get a little stressed over the shoes but I eventually found a plain white pair of stilettos in Korkys shoe store in Cork and then I brought them to Azure where I got my hair accessories to see if they could help me bling them out. They customized them to match my head piece by decorating the heel with crystals, and the flower embellishment that I had on my headpiece was sewn into the front of each shoe. I was so happy with my custom shoes, again the girls in Azure were fantastic and kept me updated with pics as they were being done.

What piece of advice would you give to an upcoming bride?

My advice to any bride to be. Don’t get to stressed about anything, if its going to happen it will no matter what you do so try your best to enjoy the planning, relax with loads of wine as its only once you get to do all of this planning and organizing for the most amazing day of your life, don’t have any bad memories about it, make it yours.
